If golf is your preferred vice, Kiva Dunes Golf Course also provides one of Alabama’s highest acclaimed public golf courses – a must-play for golfers of all skill levels, and one of the most dynamic golfing destinations on the Gulf Coast. Kiva Dunes has a rich history. In 1990, Jim Edgemon Moves to Baldwin County. He begins searching to find a suitable property to build a golf course. After weeks of searching, Mr. Edgemon views several potential sites, he zeros in on the Ft. Morgan peninsula and the future home of Kiva Dunes. After two years of searching, Larry Drummond and Jim “Scrappy” Edgemon purchased approximately 276 acres of land in 1992. This land, which would later become known as Kiva Dunes, consists of approximately 3,000 feet of beachfront on the Gulf of Mexico, including 2,800 feet on Mobile Bay. The property includes 152 single-family residential lots, 30 of which are beachfront lots. In 1995, Kiva Dunes Golf Course, a Jerry Pate design, opened to the public. During the same year, Kiva Dunes was voted the #2 Best Resort Course in the United States as ranked by Golf Digest. The Kiva Lodge building was completed in 2000 with 23 condominium units and currently houses the Golf Shop, Kiva Grill Restaurant, Kiva Dunes Properties, and Edgemon Properties. This was the official launch of Kiva Dunes Properties, LLC, the on-site Property Management Company that oversees vacation rentals of Kiva Dunes homes and condos. A few years later, Kiva Village I & II were completed, a condominium development comprising two buildings totaling 30 individual condominiums. Kiva Village overlooks the 18th Fairway on the largest water hazard. And in 2017, Kiva Beach Club opened as a private amenity open only to owners and guests and managed by Kiva Dunes Properties. The club offers a beautiful pool and restaurant directly on the Gulf of Mexico and some of the Gulf Coast’s finest dishes.
